Hello,

I was thinking on getting the HP Envy 14.5 but after reading some complaints about overheating, downsizing screen resolution and numerous hardware issues I am not sure what would be the best laptop for my buck. I was thinking I would spend about $1,000 to $1,200 would like something like an i5 460 or greater have good battery life like at least 5 hours. The Envy said it would get 6.5 hours which I would have went with if it were not for reading the problems others where having which got me to thinking perhaps the quality of the Envy 14 has gone down. please help I am a student and can't spend all my time looking for the right laptop. How is a Sony Vio i5 with good battery life?

Solution

Envy 14 is overall a good laptop. The build quality is also good but it runs hot because of having a quad core CPU(in a 14" chasis).
The Acer timelineX which wribbs recommended is also a good choice.

The battery does not last long enough on the Dell XPS 15. I would like something like a 9 cell or an 8 cell that would last as long as an HP Envy 14. What is your oppinion of the Envy 14, did I just read some bad opinions or did the build quality really go down on those?
