My laptop audio will stop working whenever I close the lid to my laptop. The only fix I've had so far from PC Specialist (The seller) are the new audio driver. The only alternative they offer is to take the sound board out and replace it. Which could take up to 10 days, however, due to the fact I am at university I need to keep my laptop on me. Are there any suggestions to what to do?

## EDIT ##
Sorry, I didn't mean just when the laptop was closed, when it opens up again, or I reboot the computer the audio does not work through headphones. Bluetooth and through the laptops speakers still work.

I have the RealTek 10.0.14393.0 driver

Have you checked in the "Power Options" to see if it is set up to turn off the sound?

1. Try going to "Control Panel" and then "Power Options".
2. On the left hand side of the window, you should see "Choose what closing the lid does". Click that and make sure it isn't set to turn off sounds when you close it.

If you can't see it there, or can't get to it...

3. In the "Power Options" screen click "Change plan settings".
4. On the next screen click "Change advance power settings".
5. Locate the option in the list for closing the lid and make sure it is set to not turn off the sounds.
6. You may also wish to check the other options in this window to make sure everything is set to work they way you want.
7. When you are done, click "Apply" and then click "OK". You can then close both windows.

I can't see any options in the "Advanced power settings" for changing what happens to sound. I am on Windows 10 if that helps

When I select the "Power buttons and lid > Lid close action" I only get options to change whether it sleep, hibernates, shuts down or does nothing when I close the lid, on battery or charger

Right. It will change what the whole laptop does. If you are allowing it to shut off, sleep or hibernate when the lid is closed, then it won't play music. You would need to set it to not do those if you want to play music when the lid is shut.

Oh sorry, I understand where you are coming from now. I have edited the question to accommodate for the ambiguity.

Yes, I've tried it with different headsets, including my Turtle beach as well as different earphones

The issue is when the laptop goes to sleep, the audio will not work when it boots back up. Windows tells me it's playing sound, even when I go and press test on the audio output I don't get anything until I reinstall the drivers
