Laptop choice

Not sure what laptop to buy out of these two:

I need it for running transcribing programmes and general dvd and cd burning type stuff.

Hello YB;

The Compaq laptop has a much better CPU.
The Passmark CPU benchmark scores for the CPUs are:
Acer: AMD Athlon TF-20 @ 1.60GHz = 396
Compaq: Celeron Dual-Core T3000 @ 1.80GHz = 1161
Thats a pretty big difference.

It looks like the Compaq also gets a better review score between the two.

I think you'd find the Acer and it's Athlon TF-20 single core CPU not as 'peppy' running Windows 7.
The Compaq wouldn't actually need a RAM upgrade right away.

Well some apps benefit from more than 2GB RAM,but its easy to upgrade the RAM to 4GB,whereas its not possible to change a CPU(from AMD to Intel)
