I have an HP Pavilion 15 L3S53EA with 8GB of RAM, AMD APU A8-6410 2GHz CPU and AMD R7 M260 2GB GPU and also R5 Graphics 1GB integrated GPU.
My OS is Windows 7 Professional 64bit
But, in games and stuff, my laptop only uses the R5 one, and completely ignores the R7 M260.

How do I make the R7 my main GPU, I already tried switching to High Performance in Switchable Graphics but it doesn't do anything.

Laptop using other graphics card and not the AMD one.

First you need to get it to detect and use the right card.

A. Uninstall, and then reinstall, the latest graphics card driver.
B. Make sure that your AMD graphics card is set as the default graphics card.

Here's the steps on how to set it to default.

1. Open the "Control Center".
2. Select "Manage 3D Settings" under 3D Settings.
3. Click on the "Program Settings" tab and select the program you want to choose a graphics card for from the drop down list.
4. Now select "preferred graphics processor" in the drop down list. (You can see what the automatic option is listed as global setting) If you want to use the dedicated graphics card, select High-performance AMD processor.

Once it is running on the right one, test the system again and see if the problem persists.

For ATI/AMD graphics cards the process varies.

You may need to open graphics then PowerPlay and set plugged in and/or battery to maximize performance.

You can also try going to graphics then 3D and move the slider to performance. Your computer may also have a switchable graphics tab where you can change the settings for individual programs.

Everything you said was done before I posted my problem here, everything is set on High Performance and it still isn't using my R7 GPU.

I'm not sure what the steps are for AMD, but for NVIDIA Optimus technology, there is a setting in the NVIDIA settings panel that lets you force certain .exes to use a certain card. It sounds like you've done that already, however.

This article I found lists some good troubleshooting steps. From the screenshots, it looks like it would be the same steps for Windows 7, 8, etc.

(see under Troubleshooting heading at the top)

One very good point to make sure of from there is to make sure your laptop is plugged in and not running on battery.

There are also some kind of unofficial custom drivers floating around that may or may not help you.

The only other suggestions I can think of to try would be to totally disable your integrated GPU within device manager; and also to see if your BIOS has any settings towards using one GPU or the other.

My laptop is plugged in 24/7, also I tried disabling my integrated GPU in Device Manager, but then I can't do anything, when I try to open GTA;V I get like, You need a DirectX 11.0 graphics card error and my Aero doesn't work anymore on Win 7 untill I get my integrated GPU enabled.
No settings in BIOS to disable iGPU, I checked.
