A few days ago my Acer laptop started to repeat the last noise played constantly, even after restarting. When I go to change the volume it starts to repeat the ping sound when I click the volume bar. Anywhere below 47 volume and it will play and slowly get quieter until it's silent, 47 and above it will play and slowly get louder. My laptop is a few years old and has on-board audio. I have looked around but I can't find anything to fix my problem and I don't want to purchase a new sound card. Oh and whenever I plug in my usb headset it's fine. I also seem to have a loss of bass in some applications.

You may want to try downloading the latest audio drivers for your Acer laptop, as there is no way to purchase a new sound card for it. Please indicate your laptop's model here.

Note that USB headsets have their own mini soundcard built into them, so they won't experience the issue that your onboard soundcard is having.
