Not sure if the Desktop I7 is worth it over the CPU I7? or would Dual gfx be worth the couple hundred more?

The dual gfx will be much better for gaming then a desktop CPU in a laptop... and id be willing to bet the first one will be very bulky and very hot... go with the veda series laptop, will be much better for gaming, easily worth the extra couple hundred

Nah, dont need any Blue Ray. Hm, would the 2nd gfx be worthwhile on 1920x1080 gaming? And what exactly IS the difference between the cpu's?

Edit - I did notice that the Mobile version has less cache and its turbo maxed out is only slightly better then the 920 desktop is at all times, ghz wise. Is there anything else?

I read the desktop CPU is alot more power hungry, but seeing as I'm going to be plugged in most of the time is that another factor for going for it?

The Desktop CPU is not designed to be housed in such a tight space that the laptop restricts it too. Better off to go with the Mobile CPU- less power draw, heat generation, and longer life. So long as the CPU is not soldered to the board, your better off getting a cheaper CPU, with the dual graphics, since its A LOT easier to upgrade laptop CPU later than GPU. Especially if the GPU(s) is/are built into the motherboard, aka Mainboard.

Maybe call the company and ask if the video card/GPU and CPU can be upgraded later?

Hm, would a one of those laptop fans(that you rest the laptop on) Seriously reduce the heat of it? Seems the Mobile CPU's might be a bottle neck for 2x gfx, and i cant see myself spending the 300$ for that tiny bit of upgrade to the next CPU(if its upgradeable)

Coolers do help a bit, but the main thing is to keep it on a well-ventilated area, preferably at room temperature.

Would the quad core really be a bottleneck? I would think the multiple cores + hyperthreading would take care of it.

I was more so concerned with the much lower clock speed on the Mobile version and adding in a second gfx to it. I guess i juts really wanna know if that Mobile CPU would bottleneck 2x gfx and if 2x gfx would even be worthwhile on the 1920x1080 screen.


Sorry for all the questions Just want to make sure im getting the best i can get, spending 3k on a laptop is no joke lol


Sidenote - I could get a I7 960 for just about the same price as the Veda laptop series, with the 2x gfx.

The 960m or desktop series? wait must be laptop... umm what 2gfx has it got in it? youre much better off with the dual cards and the 720qm, it may be mobile, but its no slouch...

Also, as long as you keep the system well-cooled, it should be able to give you a kick in speed with Turbo Boost.
