Laptop CPU Upgrade Issues.

I'm trying to upgrade my laptop cpu from a pentium t4500 with 35w tdp to a to core 2 duo p8700 with 25 watt tdp both of the same chipset to best of my knowledge and when i power on with core 2 duo it runs for a few seconds then cut off. i replace wit original cpu and boots up just fine. any suggestions?

Well you have to ensure that the processor is compatible with your motherboard. What's your motherboard?
