Question Laptop dead after installing SSD

Recently, I purchased a Samsung 970 EVO plus 250GB SSD and installed on my Asus FX570UD laptop. However, after installing the SSD, the laptop won't turn on. There are no signs of life, no LEDs, no fans.. I also tried after disconnecting (internal) battery and powering on with adapter.
When I took it to service center, they said the board is shorted. What could have been gone wrong?
When I first removed the battery using a screw driver, there was a very small spark near the connector. I've not touched any parts for static charge. Can it be due to the SSD? Or disconnecting the battery the wrong way? Any help would be much appreciated.

That small spark likely was the culprit. Not the SSD. Sorry.

you do not have to touch anything if you are not grounded. static can arc

No. It can be replaced though.
