Trying to help a brother find a laptop while the deals are around. Only problem is i dont pay attention to laptops.

So he was looking at laptops with 4 gb ram and 250 gb of HDD and non 1089 res. screens. My hope is to hook him up with a laptop that isn't a highly advertised fake deal.

With a max budget of around $400, what can my brother get out there. The cheaper the better( obv quality first).

So he was looking at laptops with 4 gb ram and 250 gb of HDD and non 1089 res. screens. Can he do better than this in a laptop for under 500?

Things he mentioned be able to do:
browse internet
stream tv shows / movies
play some games (hes not a pc gamer so nothing intense)
download music

Any suggestions will help! Thanks as always,
Zachy P

When you say, "non 1089 res screens" - what you mean?

Majority of laptops sold these days are with crappy 1366 x 768 resolution. Next step is usually 1440x900, before going to 1920x1080, and up.

I doubt you will find a laptop with better screen within your budget. Go to a store, look at prices, "feel" it. Get the one you like it. It will have 4gb RAM, and at least 250gb HDD.

Nice-to-have are USB 3.0 ports. You should look for at least i3 processor for good battery life.
Most deals have dried up because Black Friday is over and Cyber Monday was yesterday.

Here's a 15.6" Lenovo G50-70 laptop with a Core i3-4030u CPU and Intel HD 4400 integrated GPU for $420.

Acer laptop with basically the same specs, but for $400. I prefer spending the extra $20 on Lenovo since they generally have better quality control. But your mileage my vary.
