Hi,

Recently I went two weeks in vacation and didn’t start up my laptop for a few days. When I wanted to boot it up, it started acting weird. It’s a Lenovo Y500.

At first, I’d see the Lenovo booting screen, then it would shut down. Sometimes (now it’s all the time), the screen wouldn’t open, but I’d see the keyboard backlight and power button light coming on, hearing the fan turn, but then the laptop just turn off. Also, at first, once it was booted for some time, I could restart without problems. Now, everytime the laptop shut down, I go through this issue.

I need to push the button, wait that it powers off, and push it again for like 20-40 times before the laptop finally starts. Once it’s started, it runs perfectly.

What could possibly be the issue?

Thanks

Hi,

First do a complete virus scan with your laptop. Next is to disable all startup items as one of them might be causing that problem. Also do consider running System Restore putting it back to an earlier date and time when everything was working fine. Lastly, if all these steps doesn't work perform a Factory Reset with your laptop. Here's a link on how to do this step: http://www.tomsguide.com/faq/id-2330507/factory-reset-lenovo-windows-laptop.html

Hope this helps.
