So I have been experiencing some problems with my laptop. Whenever I shut my laptop down from the windows 10 start menu it only shuts down partially. The power button stays on and also the light bulb indicator on my laptop. Also, when I restart my laptop it shuts down abruptly and doesn't turn back on. Now I've been doing some research and found that I had to reset my BIOS. The problem is, I can't reset my BIOS because whenever I try to make changes to the BIOS and press save & exit I get a black screen and my laptop shuts down abruptly without any changes made. Now, manually removing the CMOS is not possible for me because I can't open my laptop all the way to the motherboard. I can only access the RAM and HDD.

Hi,

Your last resort if it's stuck on the black screen after you changed some settings with BIOS is to really reseat the CMOS battery unfortunately. But here are some troubleshooting steps that may help.
- Start by doing a hard reboot, remove the battery and unplug its AC adapter then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds then try booting it up again.
- If it doesn't work try and reseat the RAM's, remove them all for couple of seconds then put them back in making sure everything is seated properly.
- Next is to try and connect an external monitor and see if it's may be displaying not on the LCD.
- Lastly, is to reseat the CMOS battery itself.
