Laptop fan sounds like drill after cleaning.

So I cleaned the fan of my msi laptop with compressed air to clean it. But when I start my laptop and the fan goes on it sounds like a drill like drilling a screw into a wall or something. Can someone please tell me what is wrong and how I could fix it?

Big compressor or can air compressor?

1. U did not re-assemble it correctly.

2. The fan's bearing was dying anyway and u precipitated its demise, nothing to do but to replace the fan or worse the entire heatsink assembly if 1-piece.

I used a can of compressed air and it was not needed to disassemble the laptop so that's not the problem

And it really only sounded like that after cleaning .

I would not dissassemble by myself to lose warranty on laptop at all, nor any other pc component. If you can ask for fixing, then do it by yourself.

But what do I do about it because I can't use it now because I think if I let that fan go more will break or something.

Don't get bogged down by semantics. Bottom line you disturbed it, 'cuz nobody else touched it right. U now may not have a choice but to really disassemble it.

So you didn't do anything but blow compressed air into the blow hole? That action may had been enough to dislodge a small piece of something that had gotten into the exhaust, now in contact with the blades. Use a household vacuum with the smallest nozzle u can find and see if you can suck the cruds out.

It didn't work and the sound didn't change .

Most likley what happened and what rarley can happen that the fan got an angle a bit and thats why it rattles.
But canned air isnt that powerfull soo that bothers me.
Only dissassembling and see what went wrong could fix it.
If you are not experienced a bit with opening i highly suggest you to take it to reputable repair shop to see whats wrong rather than you opening and probably making things worse.
I mean nothing bad of you.

If you have warranty surley if you go to local shop instead of where you bought. Also even opening would void warranty if they find out.
My suggestion, bring back where you bought or ask them how they can help you.

Sounds like u may have to put it in for warranty service, don't tell them about the compressed air stuff.

I actually bought it on a website that doesn't have stores.

Then probably best option to take it to reputable repair shop, let them diagnose, and probably youre gonna have to buy new fan?
