Hi

I'm about to start first year engineering, (I live in New Zealand), and I need a laptop. From what I've been reading both on Tom's and the University's website the laptop will be mainly used for office programs and light engineering programs every so often. Initially I was looking at the Dell XPS 13 due to the 4k display, i7 processor and small form factor. However I'm a bit put off by the fact that it doesn't have a dedicated graphics card, do you think this will be a problem? I'm also looking at the Lenovo Y50 as an alternative. What do you guys think and do you have any better alternatives/ideas? All advice is welcome, thanks :)

hello there if your trying to run autocad or any kind of high grade modeling software the graphics chip on the intel will not work for what you need i dont know what your price point is but there are plenty of non gaming laptops with dedicated graphics designed for just what you need MSI makes some workstation laptops for people like you who dont game you can check those out asus has a borderline gaming non gaming laptop that will work just fine for what you do, someone asked if the model of laptop would work well with a 3d animation program and someone replied with yes here is a link to that specific model
