Well i have seen MANY (not all) reporting problems regarding the M15x, heat issue, GPU downclocking issue, also the Touch pad isn't very good as they say and other problems.....

I just pulled the trigger on the Gateway P 6860 fx at Best Buy. It was on sale for $1099.99 if you buy on line. Quite a bargain if you ask me. If you are afraid the processor is too slow you can take the $250 you save and put it towards a T9300. I heard changing the processor takes 15mins and is about as easy as adding an hd.

edit-all this would satisfy your requests and cost you a grand total of about $1500, well within your budget.

I just hope that those gateways were avaialbe outside of US too 🙁
P6860 FX is the best price/performance notebook IMO (and yes in the US🙁 )
