context : i'm a second year computer science student and i want to buy a new laptop. i think a machine with an i5/i7 processor and at least 6Gb will do (i need to run programs like matlab, visual studio, eclipse etc. on a daily basis), but i want some pice of advice for choosing "the one". It has to have a decent battery life also, a nice screen resolution and a touchscreen won't hurt, but is not necessary. So, what do you think my best options would be?
Any recommandation will be apreciated ! :)

I just got the Lenovo Y40 not too long ago. It's fairly powerful and has pretty good battery life. My only critiques is the color accuracy of the screen and the keyboard. Overall, for around $700, it's a solid laptop and I can even play games on it. The build quality is very good as well.
