Hi all. Could you please help me to choose the right laptop?
I need a laptop for office applications (including presentations) and for image editing (photoshop or other image design softwares). From time to time, I want to watch a movie or a sports game. No gaming, and no video reworking.
I think I need a Core I5 + 6 Go RAM (or maybe 4 Go will do? Or a Core I3?). I want a 15.6" screen (for the mobility) or eventually a 17" one (for the confort of work). I need a DVD burner. 500 Gb memory is enough. I don't think I need an impressive memory card (I don't do video's).
Which portable would you advise?
Now, take the same requirements and add a touch screen (for the ease of use). What do you advise?
Of course, price matters (I mean I don't need a revolutionary machine, but just the one which will do the job, at the right price).
Thank you for helping me, there are so many models available (less touch screens with these criteria, though).
Thanks a lot and have a nice evening/day (wherever you are).

For basic image editing a core i5 - 4200u, 4 gigs is normally enough as most laptops can handle it. For more complex things, 8 gigs and a i5 - 4200m is the min.
I would go for a 17 inch rather than 15 inch as more real estate helps when you have more screen to move the menus around.
I wouldn't advise a touchscreen unless the software is optimised and you like using your hands rather than a mouse and keyboard.
I personally have an asus n56vz which I use for game development but it is more than capable of running any image editing software but it costs £800.
Normally an image editing laptop will cost between £500 - £800 at the budget end and can go up.

Hi velo3100 !
Thanks a lot for your answer. It is very helpful. You are right, the 17" screen will be much more handy with several things open at the same time. And in the end, it is probably not much more of a problem to transport it, compraed to a 15.6".
I'll have a look at the Asus first. Thank you very much and have a nice week-end.
