Hi, im looking to buy a laptop for university. I already have a desktop, which I use for gaming and more intensive tasks. Therefore, Im looking for a laptop primarily for note taking, and portable enough to take home with me.

  • Budget: Up to £900 but rather spend closer to £600
    Screen size: 13-14
    CPU: i5 or above
GPU: Nice be able to do some light gaming but not major concern
Resolution: 1080p is fine, anymore will drain batter life
    Battery life: long battery life
Portability: Relativity light weight and able to fit into backpack

Also keyboard and trackpad, are very important factors, so not sure if Windows laptops trackpads are good as Apples yet. So battery life, portability and keyboard/trackpad are most important factors

I was thinking of the Dell XPS 13 but it seems a little small in person, so other options:

  • HP Envy 13
    HP Spectre x360
    Macbook Pro 13
Dell XPS 15 (slightly expensive, so not sure if it is worth it)
Any other suggestions would be helpful

Thanks

hi im in the same boat as you. just that i bought my laptop just 5 minutes ago in store. the one i bought is a MSI GE62 Apache 276. great laptop best bang for buck you'll ever find. i did weeks upon weeks of research before finally settling on this one. it may be 15.6 in but its worth the extra bulk for performance.

a BIG bonus is that this laptop is very upgradeable unlike 90% of laptop on the market today
