Laptop Gaming: Graphics and Monitor Solutions

Hello,

I use laptop to game due to my dial up access I often travel to Net cafe's for patching etc.

Does it make any sense at all to go with a power packed laptop with a small screen and then hook up to an external monitor? If so will this tax a laptops processor/memory/graphics to much to still have a reliable gaming solution?

Actually was able to do most everything in WoW aside from raids and larger BG's... Tanked all heroics and usually hit top 4 slot in damage/kills in say WSG on WoW. So ya
