laptop graphic card and RAM upgrade

hi! i have an ASUS X555LA laptop, 4gb ram, intel core i3, and intel hd graphic family (built in GC).
can i upgrade the ram and graphics card to a much better one?

You cannot install a graphics card. You are stuck with the Intel HD 4400.

You can upgrade the amount of RAM to 8GB, but it only has one RAM slot so you need to replace the 4GB stick with an 8GB Stick of DDR3L (1.35v) 1600 RAM.

can Autocad 2015 and Solidworks run on intel hd 4400 w/ the 8gb ram??

I do not use those programs so I cannot say though I believe AutoCAD will work.

I am pretty sure the 4GB stick is soldered in and you can run 12GB total. Open the cover for the RAM on the bottom of the case and see if the slot has a stick in it. If not, it will be open, then put a stick up to 8GB SODIMM into it providing it is the correct voltage etc. I feel a lot of the problems that people have when the computer will not start afterwards is the same as most computers after RAM removal and\or upgrade, make sure it is properly seated.
