I have a real year old samsung. Waking up onext morning and the track pad wouldn't want work. Neither would the letter 'p'. I tried the letter p and nothing would work. Fn+ keys wouldn't work either so please don't recommend the typical, keys like f2, f5, f11, f12. I've started a complete factory reset to see if that helps. Do you have any advicÈ,,

Did the factory reset help with any of the key functionality? If say it did not, I would say there is a problem with the hardware. Typically if say it were a software issue, a factory reset would have fixed anything that may have been out of place. And also due to the age of the laptop, a faulty keyboard is likely and not uncommon.

Hopefully a software issue was the case but say if not, chances are a new keyboard would be a cheap fix depending on the make and model.

You could always go the route of just installing a new keyboard panel, or as silly as it may seem, you could actually connect a USB keyboard to the laptop say if it was in dire need of use
