Hi, I don't know if this is the right forum to post, I have an old Desktop (2010/2011):

AMD Phenom II X4 955BE 3.0GHZ
Asus M4A88TD-M
Gskill 8gb 1600 Ripjaws
GTX 750ti

Now I'm planning to replace it with a Laptop. The Desktop still works perfectly fine (AutoCad no 3d, some Games), but now I cannot move it on my new home.

So my question is, what kind of Laptop can I get for the same power or performance as my old Desktop? My budget can be around 500-600$.

I will use this for Autocad (no 3d) and some old games.

Thank you for all replies!

considering the power of your cpu, this should not be hard to replace it at all, comparing your current Desktop to a base laptop (see cpu comparison. below) I would say, an i5-7200U cpu laptop would do everything your needs would be.

the problem is the video card you have doesn't exist in a laptop, you can find some 1050 or 1050 ti or rx 460 for laptops.
but those are over your 600$ budget threshold.

Lets say I can up my budget, how about these?

Are any of these good?

in the list of laptops your looking at the problem is a lot of them use the Intel HD 620 video card, and that my friend is like 1/3 power of your 750ti card right now, I have no idea how CAD will work on it, and I know gaming will be near impossible
so you understand...

My point is, CPU wise Yes not a problem, graphically I cannot confirm any of these laptops will have the ability to do what your expecting your desktop to currently do.

If you intend to keep it for a while, I would look at Kaby Lake-R (8000 series i5u/i7u) and not even bother with the 2-core Kaby Lake models. They are 4-core, 15W TDP models that offer a nice balance of battery life and CPU power.

Yes I think I'm going for the HQ quadcore models instead of the dualcores. Thanks!
