I have an msi u130, its pretty old and the battery was never changed.

I am using a charger form another laptop? could it not be charging because of that or do i need to replace the battery?

Solution
Laptop batteries are usually the first to go, and it's almost certain that your battery is dead. Save a CpuZ report and locate the hardware monitor section and see the wear level % of your battery. It will probably be close to 100% is my guess.

Has the charger ever worked on that laptop? I know some laptops (Dell for example) would run with a non Dell charger but would not charge the battery.
I would do the CPU-Z report per Multipack. Didn't know it had a battery section, so good to know!
