Laptop key problem

Hello! I own a Toshiba laptop and I'm having a problem with the W key. When playing games where W is the default forward command, the character keeps moving although I lifted my finger off the key. The duration depends on how long the key has been pressed before. Sometimes it stops working altogether and the character won't move.
What could be done?

Pop it off! Shouldn't hurt it unless you forcefully break it. Make sure it's clean under there, then stick it back down.
