I have a older Dell Vostro 2510 that I upgraded from a T7500 to a T9500 (Core 2 Duo 2.6GHZ), from 2GB DDR2 to 4GB, 128 GB SSD and Win 7 Pro. As far as I'm aware I updated all of the drivers, but after startup resource monitor shows that RAM and CPU are regularly at 50% or higher.

Worse yet almost every action pegs the CPU to 100%. I have the power setting to 100% CPU with AC power. I turned off all of the Windows visual additions (set to performance with new Windows styles on). Facebook is nearly unusable despite having Java and everything else updated (Firefox user).

Any thoughts would be very much appreciated.

Hi,

Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help in solving the issue.
- Start by reapplying new thermal paste on the CPU.
- Next is to install the latest BIOS version update. (Version A06)

- Once installed do test your laptop again and see if the same problem will persist or not.
- If it doesn't work do also make sure that you have all the drivers installed by checking in Device Manager.
- If there's a Yellow Exclamation mark on any driver that means it needs the driver.

- If all these will not work I would suggest doing a clean install of Windows 7.

When I changed the CPU I used Arctic silver and cleaned the fan and heat fins.

Already installed the latest BIOS (a06)

All drivers loaded

Only thing I didn't do was do a clean install after the CPU swap. Although it was a clean install 3 days before swapping CPUs.
