laptop not playing sound on both channels through hdmi

hello all, fired up my laptop earlier and suddenly i only have sound through 1 channel. it had been working just fine! looked at all settings i can think of and no luck. set up is acer timelinex 3830tg connected to a dell s2440l monitor via hdmi and logitech speakers pluged in directly to the monitor output 3.5 jack. tried another hdmi no change. if i plug them straight into the computer they play both channels so its not the speakers...... any ideas?

Try the settings on your HDMI audio device to see whether it is set to two channel mode from the sound control panel.

unless i am over looking something i dont know about it is set on stereo
