Laptop only stays on for a little while

I have a hp laptop that will turn on if I hold the power button for at least 30 seconds but it only stays on after 37 seconds.

Well is this on battery or charger? Or both? Also what does it do during that 37 second period? And what is the make and model?

It’s on both and it just shows the normal screen during the 37 second period. I think it’s a HP model 655 C4X80EA. Also I tried opening the laptop yesterday and it was working and seeming normal but then it shut off automatically again after 2 minutes or so (I wasn’t counting). The battery was fully charged as well.

So to be clear, it starts up, normally, and then after a very short while it just cuts out, as if you cut the power. Is that correct?

Also, did anything out of the ordinary occur before this started happening?
