Hello people of the internet,
I have a 17" HP DV7-7000 that has had overheating issues ever since I got it about 5 years ago.
I sent it back to the factory twice for the problem when it was still under warranty and they nothing they did helped. Now that the warranty is up I decided to crack it open to see what I could find. I did what this thread suggested (here) and modified the vents on my fan. I also replaced the thermal paste on both the CPU and GPU (which definitely needed it).
So, I do all that and now my machine is running even hotter than before. Before I did anything, it would hit between 70-80 C under stress. Now it's hitting 85C under stress and now I can smell it.
It's fine at idle running at around 48C.
Anybody have any ideas?
Here are my specs:
HP DV7-7000, Intel Core i7 2.30GHz, 12GB RAM, Windows 7 64 bit
Thanks for your time
