Question laptop power button won't work only when laptop is turned off!

Hi,I have a asus gl552vw and i have a very weird problem with this laptop,when the laptop is on,i can use my power button to put laptop on sleep or etc,but when my laptop is off i cant use power button to turn it on,so i disconnected the CMOS battery to turn on the laptop using the charger,but now when i close the lid laptop wont go on sleep and it remains on(i think there is sth wrong with my CMOS battery),any help will be appreciated,tnx!

thanks for your respond,i tried replacing battery when laptop is turned off,when i press power button right after placing the battery back my power button works flawlessly,but if i don't disconnect and reconnect battery my power button won't work,really weird!

yeah i changed the cmos battery before but when i disconnect and reconnect the MAIN battery my power button starts working not the cmos battery

maybe the main battery is faulty?
