Laptop Power supply question.

So I have this Compaq laptop I am trying to start. The input of the laptop is 18.5v and 3.5a. Will the laptop work if I plug in a 19.5v and 4.62a power supply into it? Or will something terrible happen?

V should be the same (it might work though, however will shorten the battery's life)

A must be at least the same or better (dont get comfused with A/h)

also make sure the dc in uses the same connector, else it wont power at all!
