laptop recommendation - Asus ROG STRIX GL503VM (costco version) vs Lenovo Legion Y720

Specifications:

Asus 15.6 ROG STRIX GL503VM, Core i7-7700HQ, 16GB DDR4, 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD, FullHD 120hz (60hz?), 6GB(3GB?) GeForce GTX 1060, USB 3.1 Type-C.

Lenovo Legion Y720, 15.6, Core i7-7700HQ, 8GB DDR4, 128GB SSD +1TB HDD, FullHD, 6GB GeForce GTX 1060, USB 3.1 Type-C with Thunderbolt 3.

personally i would go for the asus just because it have more ram,better built quality and if it have the 120hz panel.if the lenovo is cheaper then go for the lenovo although i do have few issue with my old y50-70 before.

At the moment they are around $1000. Most people recommend ASUS because it has better components. The only thing I like about the lenovo is that it is less loud, the distribution of the keyboard and has the Thunderbolt port. Maybe I would choose it if Lenovo had better display. The Lenovo isn't bad but Asus is more geared towards gaming, which is what I'm assuming you're buying it for (hence the Strix). The ram difference isn't gonna be noticeable unless you're doing heavy editing, but it's not bad to have a lil more.
