Solved! Laptop refuses to recognize 2nd hard drive (HDD)

Hello,

yesterday, I bought a thinkpad t540p, it is a used one but it is in good state.

the only problem with it is that when i start the Windows (win 10) the 2nd hard drive (HDD) plugged through a Caddy sometimes shows up and some other times doesn't want to shows up until I restart the system .. and some other times it shows up and suddenly it disapear.

note: the system is installed on another SSD.

Please can someone tell me what could be causing this? and thank you in advance.

maybe the caddy isn´t fitting 100% or the hard drive is faulty

check with fujitsu tool

Hi again,

I tested with another hard drive, the first problem was solved, but now when the pc come back from the standby mode the 2nd hard drive disapear again, it wont start until I restart the system.

Help pls. and thanks in advance.

Reinstall the chipset and eventually sata drivers

update the BIOS of the laptop, if an update is available

have a look inside the BIOS if there is a setting for DVD or HDD to switch

did you insert the screw for the caddy to be fixiated in the laptop?

- concerning the screw, yes i fixed the caddy with the screw.

I am gonna try the other solutions and I am gonna give feedback.
