Hi all,

Is this an alright Laptop for very very basic gaming on. Would mainly just be playing Strategy games and Payday 2, probs on low settings.

Graphics don't bother me as long as the game runs smoothly.

Suppose so but the 840M is very low end, its not much better than integrated graphics. I would look for something with a better GPU. Also PC World are a rip off, try amazon.

Okay mate thanks, so what would be a good GPU then? Just so I know what to look out for.

For low settings, it will play the game. The cpu is more of a bottleneck than the gpu.

The GT 840m is a mainstream / mid-range graphics chip. It is far better than any integrated graphics core. However, it will not perform as well as a higher end graphics chip. Typically most people would say that the GTX 850m is the lowest graphics chip that is considered a "gaming graphics chip".

The greater the resolution you want to play a game at, the more powerful graphics chip you will need. The GT 840m is capable of playing most current games on medium settings @ 1366x768. However, at 1080p resolution you are looking at low settings for most games except the ones with low graphic requirements.
