Laptop screen crimped wire?

Hello,

Very recently my laptop screen began going quite fuzzy (to a point of being unusable), however, there was still an image in the background that was visible (such as the windows logo when loading). I opened up the laptop, and noticed by the hinges on the right side of the screen, there was a wire that was being pulled every time the screen was adjusted upward or downward, to a point of being almost completely severed.

Once I put the laptop back together after reattaching the screen fully (I took the entire LCD off the hinges and made sure the connection on the back was secure) the screen was all colors and lines. I noticed that one of the wires by the hinge was (or appeared to be) fully separated. I tried weaving them back together and using electrical tape to hold them together, but still no luck.

My question is: Is the wire the issue with the screen not displaying correctly? Or is the screen itself the issue? And I suppose the main question is, how do I fix this problem?

It is the Black wire closest to the bottom of the two wires. They were originally taped together, I believe one of them is for a microphone?

Any help would be highly appreciated as I can't afford a new laptop haha.

Try to solder the cable. If the issue still persist send it to any kind of notebook service. They will solve your problem with a 30 minute work. If it would be the inverter cable it would short the whole lcd. It can be the cam/mic/wifi cable.

I will give it a shot if I can't find any other solution 🙁 or if someone is positive what that wire is? I suspect it's an antenna maybe? The only thing I can think of causing the issue would be a damaged wire of sorts though... External displays work perfectly fine. And there was an image (very fuzzy and still lines across the screen to an extent) before opening it, now it's just all colors... Does anyone know if it could be a wire causing the issue? I'm totally stumped on this one haha

It's an HP Emachines E440 1394 . I tried again disconnecting the screen completely, still no luck. All vertical and horizontal lines across the screen 🙁.

Ok. So the solution is:
1. Connect just LVDS from LCD and Inverter with your mobo
2. Clean with 80%+ alcohol the ram sockets then insert back your sticks.
2.1 (May require an oscilloscope) - Search for any kind of signal on your LVDS connector on mobo what is related to 3/5/19 volts.
2.2 If you have another LCD change it, then test it. If your issue still persist you will need a technician or someone who has a reheat station for BGAs. He will know what to do. The price of reheat may differ , but its between 20-40 euros. The replacement depend on your graphic chip but its a bit more than reheat.

Unfortunately, that is beyond my current skill level haha. Thank you very much though for giving me a possible solution! I think I may have to give up on this one, as much as it will drive me crazy to do so!
