laptop screen keeps blinking

I was watching a movie the night before and i put it to sleep. When i woke up i tried booting it up but after the when the windows 8 logo comes up the screen turns completely black then black with backlight lit and then completely and so on. But it doesnt go beyond that point i tried everything i let it run like that for hours, took the battery out. But when i press f12 it takes me to the setup page and i did an extensive system test and everything passed so im not sure what the problem is. Please if you can help me answer.

try to crash the system twice or thrice-- when you turn on the computer, when you see the win logo with dots circling around.. forcefully turn off the computer and then restart the computer and repeat the step again twice. or thrice.. for the forth time. just turn on the computer normally and this time you should be getting a troubleshooting screen , so try doing a "refresh"(by getting into troubleshoot option) or choose the option "restart"or continue ...
