Today, my laptop ran hot and was wondering why. Checked the exhaust and found dust collected on it was abysmal. So I followed guides to clean it and after that, I started to turn it on.
The led for the power button lits up but the screen didn't. Search the net for guides and then checked if I unplugged some ribbon cables. But I didn't so assembled everything back to the way it was and still won't turn on.
Any advice as to what should I do? Also, my laptop is an Acer Travelmate 4750.

Thank you for the suggestion. Now the screen turns on just fine...
Try this...

1. Turn the laptop off (not sleep or hibernate but off).
2. Connect an external monitor to the laptop.
3. Turn on the external monitor.
4. Turn on the laptop.

NOTE: You may have to press an "external monitor" button. Could be the f4 button or a button with two monitors on it, for the external monitor to work.

If you can see fine on the external monitor, then your attached display, or the ribbon cable that connects it, are your problem.

If you can't see on the external monitor at all, or the problem occurs on the external monitor as well, then it is probably the graphics card/GPU that is the problem, which may require the motherboard be replaced.

What I actually did was placed the RAM stick to another slot and when I turned it on, it actually turned on... xD

Don't know why that happened though.
