laptop shuts down randomly

my asus x541n shuts down randomly. idk but im guessing it's due to overuse. It happened twice already, and it was when i used my laptop for almost 12 hrs straight. it only opened when i plugged the charger in. the power button wouldnt work even if i pressed it many times and even held it for so long. i dont know what really causes the problem but im getting an inference that the overuse may have caused its random total shutdown

btw the battery's already at 50% when the shut down happened.

You could have an overheating issue. I would suggest installing temperature monitoring software and keep an eye on them. If they are getting really high, high enough to turn it off, you risk frying a multitude of parts.
