Laptop storage decision

Hi guys I have a Lenovo ideapad 300 15ISK and it came with a 1TB scorpio blue. I'm using it for College so my documents are saved on One Drive just so I can access them on my desktop too.
Im thinking about swapping the hdd out for a 250gb Samsung 850 EVO that I have lying get around. This is a big downgrade in storage space but an upgrade in speed.
In your opinion or personal experience is 250gb enough?

If all you're doing is typing (and saving them else ware anyway) and you won't be installing too much, 256 is cutting it a little short but will be fine, meaning you'll have to remove files from the drive to one drive or something like an external hard drive more often.

SSDs are getting pretty cheap now. I recommend one of these 2 drives. They are really fast and very well priced. Sandisk Ultra II 480GB and 960GB SSDs. $116.94 or $212.77

480GB: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M8ABFX6/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=TRLWP7VTT2J2&coliid=I3GEQLZKL1QIZM&psc=1

960GB: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M8ABHVQ/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=TRLWP7VTT2J2&coliid=I3GEQLZKL1QIZM&th=1

I'm not sure if you have an optical drive but the way I have mine setup is I have a 240GB SSD as my boot drive and a 2.5 HDD caddy that goes in my optical drive bay for my 2TB 2.5 inch Samsung HDD. They are made by NewmodUS. https://www.newmodeus.com/
