laptop switches off like a light when I put battery back in

I have a one year old acer laptop that my son accidently plugged a wrong charger into. Now, it wouldn't turn on anymore but after checking out discussions on here I tried taking the battery out and putting just the charger in. It starts, but as soon as I put the battery pack back in it switches off like a light. Can anyone tell me what might be the problem?

Hi, probably one component is burnt on the motherboard, in the section of the switching power. You will need a technician to repair your laptop. Try repairing under the warranty if you could.
