after 5 mins full load testing with prime 95 max temp is 71 with silent mode auto enabled .... but with silent mode off and with the same test temp is stable at 81-82 and every 10-15 secs it becomes 93-94 just for a second and then stabilize at 79-82 again and it keeps repeating the cycles like that ...the processor is i7-3630QM quad core ... i really hope this is normal cuz i just bought this laptop 15 days ago so its kinda new and it's my first experience with laptops ...thanks in advance

Solution
What's the CPU freq when the laptop is on silent mode?

I suspect that the silent mode power profile under-clock the CPU.

Well of course the fan will cool your laptop down :) what you could do is download a free software that will let you see how much your fan is actually doing, you can also manually set your fan to start working whenever your getting worried :)

actually it's the opposite .. when the fan is running at full speed and produces alot of air and alittle noise ( silent mode off ) the temp. is higher than its when the fan running at low speed with no noise at all (silent mode set to auto ) that doesn't make any sense to me ... thanks for your reply though

yup that's true 1795.93 at silent mode and 3192.77 silent mode off ..... but are these temps normal for i7 3630Qm ? as the laptop is new just 20 days old ..temps are stable 81/82 and go to 93/94 for a sec only every 10 secs !
anyway thanks alot appreciate it

yes, apparently the temp reaches max when freq. is 3392 mhz (90-94)C and changes to 2394 mhz every few secs?? is that normal ?? i guess that 3392 is by turbo because actual speed of 3630QM is 2.4 GHZ and it reaches 3400 mhz only when plugged in ,but i'm worried that these temps are high .. thanks alot for your help

i've set the power profile to HIGH PERFORMANCE but still the freq. changes from 2394 to 3392 , it even doesn't reach 3392 unless the laptop is plugged in ..i noticed that fan silent mode under clock freq to 1700 mhz and without silent mode freq changes from 2400 mhz to 3400 mhz ... my only concern is that temp reach 94 C ..thanks

It's noraml to not reach max turbo if on battery. You get turbo for 1core@3.4, 2core@3.3 and 3/4core@3.2GHz. Not sure if this is available on your laptop, but some offer the option to lock all core to turbo in their power profile. Otherwise, the freq will hover between the max turbo and base freq on performance power profile. 90 something temp is ok for a laptop. Not great, but ok. Aand long as your freq don't go under 2.4GHz, it's ok.
