My laptop(Hp/win7/i5/4gb) reached a temp of over 96°C yesterday when I was checking its performance with an inbuilt diagnostic tool, the fan is faulty and I'm too lazy to get it changed so I reduced the performance down to the minimum to keep the temps down, I monitor the temp with speedfan in the taskbar so it keeps me informed which is usually near 45°C~55°C. I keep the battery option to HP recommended customized to the lowest performance but sometimes when I need some power I choose High performance, it was that time when it reached 96°C. Since then I suspect that my laptop is choking a bit while working, do you think that I damaged the processor or something else slightly so that it is still working but somehow has started to bear damage at the base?
Also I just wanted to know if there is some software to check it?
