Laptop temps reach 96°C+ with a faulty fan, want to know if the CPU is wounded or not?

My laptop(Hp/win7/i5/4gb) reached a temp of over 96°C yesterday when I was checking its performance with an inbuilt diagnostic tool, the fan is faulty and I'm too lazy to get it changed so I reduced the performance down to the minimum to keep the temps down, I monitor the temp with speedfan in the taskbar so it keeps me informed which is usually near 45°C~55°C. I keep the battery option to HP recommended customized to the lowest performance but sometimes when I need some power I choose High performance, it was that time when it reached 96°C. Since then I suspect that my laptop is choking a bit while working, do you think that I damaged the processor or something else slightly so that it is still working but somehow has started to bear damage at the base?

Also I just wanted to know if there is some software to check it?

Well for one youre in the wrong section, youre in "Guide" not the support forums:
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/forum-111.html

So that could be a reason for the lack of response.

also it depends on how long your cpu has been cooking at that temp. has there been any thermal throttling?
if it has been at 96C for a handful of hours there is a good chance there is some damage done. With that said, I dont know your voltages or what your CPU is actually rated for. either way anything over 90C is considered too high.
