Hi thanks for taking the time to help me! I am unfortunate to say that my receiver doesn't have any HDMI ports, my laptop justs has a 3.5mm jack and 2 USB for any external soundcards and an HDMISure, I can help you!
To play your 5.1 audio files on your laptop using your Yamaha RX-V2300 receiver, you will need to follow these steps:
this will be helpful for you ,
- Connect your laptop to the receiver using an HDMI cable or an optical cable. Make sure to connect to an input that supports 5.1 audio, such as HDMI input 1 or 2.
- Set your receiver to the correct input that you connected your laptop to. You can do this by pressing the "Input" button on the remote or on the front panel of the receiver.
- On your laptop, open the audio file that you want to play. If your media player supports 5.1 audio, it should automatically output the audio in 5.1 format to the receiver.
thanks.
You should be able to go from the 3.5mm port (output) to the audio input on the receiver with something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-3-5mm-2-Male-Adapter-Stereo/dp/B01D5H8JW0/
This is not produce 5.1 sound.
To get more channels, an external sound device like this would be needed (StarTech.com 7.1 USB Sound Card):
would the USB that provides optical out, would I be able to use Dolby digital 5.1You connect the USB device to the laptop and then the USB device (with 3.5mm to RCA cables like linked earlier) to the input ports on your receiver.
Yes, you could use an adapter that provides optical out to connect to the receiver as well.
If you don't have the manual, this might be useful: https://usa.yamaha.com/files/download/other_assets/4/319804/01_om_rx-v2300.pdf
