Solved! LAPTOP TO HDTV

If I have a laptop with 1366x768 ,but my hdtv is 1920x1080 resolution , when hooking up the laptop to TV with HDMI cable, can it still display 1920x1080 on the TV? or I have to buy the 1920x1080 resolution laptop in order to display the 1920x1080 resolution on the HDTV?

Can anyone help ?

depends on your display settings.

if you have the tv set to copy the primary display...then no.
if you have the tv set to extend your desktop onto this monitor...then yes

i was using a 720p laptop to play on a 1080p television just fine. just use the included hdmi port and change your display options.
