Laptop to tv on hdmi stopped working

I have my laptop hooked up to my Samsung tv because the monitor does not work. It has been working fine like this for almost two years when all of a sudden my tv does not recognize my laptop. I have tried the fn + f4 trick with no luck. Have tried different hdmi cords with no luck. How do I remedy this problem?

on my laptop its fn+f8.

i've heard some used fn+f4 though.

could be your hdmi port burned out. i would check the shortcut again though. perhaps it is also due to the order you turn your devices on. try turning the tv off (with the laptop on) then back on again.
