Laptop to TV via DVD player

Can I watch YouTube - for example - on TV by running a cable from my laptop into the USB port of my DVD player which is, in turn, connected to my older TV via 3 standard RCA pins?

No, but if you give some details about your setup there may be other options. Starting with the TV and laptop brand and model would be good.

Unless you have an HD TV, the quality of the laptop output would be horrible anyway.
