laptop typing bbbbbbb

i own a Sony Vaio VGN AR 903E laptop that was top of the line in 2008, 17' HD monitor, blu ray player, etc. I am still in love. I have replaced a hdd once, now Im having an issue with the laptop typing the letter bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb . I popped the key, cleaned it, although it didnt seem to be sticking or be dirty. Still, bbbbbbb. A bing-bing-bing sound at start-up, disappears by hitting keys????? I upgraded and replaced both hard drives, and both memory sticks, reinstalled the OS and, bam...... its typing bbbbbbbbb again. It isnt shutting down properly, resumes windows, works ok, then wham!!!!! bbbbbb again and I am unable to search, type, etc. Should I invest in a new motherboard???? I have gone this far, so..... I love this laptop. but...... is it worth doing at this point??????

Sounds like the keyboard needs replacement. Cleaning the physical key won't fix faulty circuitry in the keyboard. If you feel comfortable doing a bit of surgery on the laptop, it's generally not too hard to replace a keyboard once you find the correct match for the keyboard on ebay. Otherwise, a local computer repair shop should have no trouble doing it.

Yeah, sounds like the switch has collapsed in the key. New keyboards are plentiful on eBay and usually pretty easy to swap.
