Should I get a new laptop for college? I already have a custom built desktop that plays almost everything on ultra, if I got a laptop I would want it to be able to play everything med-high. I'll be staying in a dorm for college, my desktop is a full atx tower, is space going to be an issue if I took my desktop? Any major pros/cons of getting a laptop versus just taking my desktop? The laptop I'm planning on getting depending on how you guys answer is the Lenovo Y410p or Y510p.

Well seeing as you already have a desktop, I would suggest getting a laptop, seeing as you might need it for some of your classes. Not all programs/games will use the SLI configuration.

The desktop size issue thing is based on how large/small your dorm room is. See if your college offer loft beds, those will give you some more room for your desktop.

This will list all games compatibly with SLI.

Also on a slightly unrelated question, the lenovo Y410p and Y510p can switch out their cd drive for another graphics card or another hard drive. Do you think the extra graphics card or an SSD would improve gaming performance the most?

When you buy the lenovo y510p the 2nd gpu is what is in the CD drive. Not many games really benefit from a ssd, if anything you get a couple of seconds reduced. In less it is a game like diablo 3.

Ok thanks for your help. I'll get the Y510p after I get some birthday money in September. Are there usually some pretty good deals on Black Friday and cyber Monday?
