Laptop will not boot ...

I have a laptop here that will not boot up. I get nothing on the screen at all, but it sounds like it's trying to access the CD/DVD drive, which is empty. If I eject the tray the access attempts stop but nothing else happens, there are no "Beeps" from the machine at all ... if I put a Windows DVD in and close the tray it continues as before & still nothing happens !!!

This machine was apparently working normally when it was left and was doing this when the owner returned !!!

Any ideas apart from throw it in the bin ?!?

Does it look like the screen is one but no boot or the screen is black as the laptop is not turnd on at all?

The screen doesn't flicker or react in the slightest ...

It sounds like a cable or screen issue. You need to test with an external monitor or TV to see if you get any signal through VGA or HDMI ports.
