I am a minecraft and Starcraft 2 HOTS player, and I currently have an Alienware 14 with a nvidia gt 750m. I would like to run those games at the highest quality, but it is slow and the lowest quality is below 30 fps. I am looking forward to these brand laptops that have either 980m sli or just the 980m. Which one is worth the price? My dad says that he does not want to spend more than $1000 USD. DO NOT RECOMMEND ME TO GET OR BUILD A DESKTOP!!! ALSO DO NOT RECOMMEND ME TO GET SOMETHING THAT IS WEAKER THAN MY CURRENT GPU OR IS OBSOLETE.

With sli

MSI gt80 titan sli
Origin eon17-slx
Eurocom x7

with one 980m

sager np9772-s
sager np9377-s
sager np9377
origin eon17-slx
origin eon17
msi gt72 dominator pro
msi gt70
aorus x7 pro
eurocom x7
and many more

Solution

btw the human eye can only see around 60fps, so anything above is bonus, the line between playable and unplayable for must gamers is 30 fps, if you could find a notebook with the 970m you should have no problem. the 870m is a great card as well, it is just older and more power hungry.

Np9377s is available with 980m sli and cheapest as far as I know (you can manage it at around $3k with i7 4910hq)
I guess sli is needed only if you do 4k gaming or do not wish to upgrade for atleast 3 4 years. A 980m sli can outclass any single desktop gpu like 980 and titan z
go with your needs. If you have an option to upgrade within 2-3 years, go for single and upgrade to new pascal architecture series later :)
