Laptop with SSD for OS, HDD for storage: What about the battery life?

Hi,

I just bought a Samsung 850 EVO M.2 SSD for my Asus k501lx notebook. It is said that the battery life of the laptop, when ran on an SSD, extends by some time.

Now, I do want to use the already built-in 1TB HDD for storage. Will I still profit from this extended battery life or will the continues use of the HDD bring its performance down? (or to the same level as it was before)

For a Asus k501lx, I wouldn't worry about the energy the hdd will use since it's a gaming laptop.
