Laptop wont get to internet

I have a acer aspire 3 ive dont really use , when i turn on the laptop i can get to the login page and i can type in ny password but once i have loged in it turns into a black screen with only the cusor. Then i got a pop up message that states “ pleace cheak the following: network cable , wireless settings, network adapter, dsl or cable modem. Btw i am connected to internet

How do you know you are connected to the internet if it black screen?

Even after restarting your laptop, logging in to windows, you still get the same message?
Is Windows frozen? Can you reboot? Can you use Windows 10 troubleshooting?

Have you tried go to bios and resetting to defaults?
Have you tried restoring to a previous point?
